Lower Secondary Skills for Life

The benefits of studying Lower Secondary Skills for Life

Our Lower Secondary Skills for Life course aims to help your child develop the necessary knowledge, skills and attributes for life and work in the future. The course covers a range of engaging themes that will spark discussion and, in turn, help your child develop effective communication, analytical and reflective skills: ‘How can we work well with others?’ ‘How can we deal with change?’ ‘How can we lead a healthy lifestyle?’.

A growing body of evidence shows that life skills education can help the emotional and physical wellbeing of students and increase academic attainment.

The course is packed full of presentations, videos, worksheets and discussion topics which will allow your child to explore these topics in depth, individually or with a parent/Tutor. Our course is currently the only international homeschooling-specific curriculum for the teaching of personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE).

We made a giant leap just over a year ago when we decided to enrol our 11 year old daughter in Year 7 with Wolsey Hall. We had no idea what to expect and were quite apprehensive. She has just started Year 8 with Wolsey Hall as we were so blown away with how her first year went. The quality of teaching is exceptional, the work is interesting and perfect in terms of quantity and variety. The system is so easy to use and everyone we deal with is lovely, knowledgable and professional. I honestly cannot find one negative and I recommend Wolsey Hall to anyone considering home schooling (it actually made me want to start my school journey again – and that’s saying something!).

My daughter really enjoyed Part 1 of the Skills for Life course on the Lower Secondary Level. Learning about her positive attributes, thinking about her future interests and how to deal and prepare for change in her life has made a positive impact on her well-being. My daughter loves working at her own pace and is totally independent. The positive feedback and explanations on how to improve in certain areas are excellent. Our Student Progress Manager always keeps me up to date with all of my daughter’s subjects and is always very supportive and helpful. We cannot wait to enroll her for Part 2 of this course. This is the first year of being a part of Wolsey Hall Oxford and we look forward to continuing the rest of her school years on this platform.
