History has always fascinated me. From an early age, I was delving into classical and modern history, from Ancient Rome and Greece to the campaigns of World War Two.
This led me to complete courses at GCSE, A Level and at university, culminating in a BA degree. Teaching would take a little longer as I went exploring around the World, spending significant time in the USA and Brazil and learning all I could about coaching football. I came back to the UK and started working in a Sixth Form College; teaching Sports Science, Biology and History and completing my PGCE teaching qualification. All of these subjects fascinated me, and all have a fascinating history of their own.
Teaching is a wonderful vocation and seeing students grow, improve and mature is one of the most enjoyable things to watch. When the possibility of working online anywhere in the world landed at my feet, I quickly jumped at the opportunity of living in Sicily. The island is steeped in history, Roman, Greek, Norman, Ottoman, Mafia and World War Two. I even discovered that during World War Two my great uncle had landed just south of where I was living! The island and my time there, as well as helping students, inspired me to write two books, one on the changing nature of warfare and another on the history of Sicily.
I look forward to sharing my passion for History with you.
