I have been a teacher for over 38 years. Throughout that time I have had a keen interest in the creative arts, especially poetry, music and drama. I have taught music to children from nursery age up to Year 6 for the majority of my career. I was headteacher of a village primary school for ten years and the school excelled in creative arts and sport.
I hold a Masters degree in Education, where I specialised in difficulties in literacy. Another of my vocations in education has been working with children with dyslexia.
One of my greatest passions has been composing music. I have written songs for children’s plays and hymns for worship, as well as songs for the rock and pop groups that I’ve played the guitar in. I really enjoy both listening to and playing music, and I go to live concerts whenever I can. This includes following my son’s band at their various gigs around the West Country.
I love all forms of sport, especially football and cricket, and my wife and I try to attend live sporting events as often as possible. Being a keen walker is good news for my chocolate Labrador, Bobby. We enjoy long walks in the countryside or along one of the glorious beaches near the family home in North Devon.
