Neil Rickus

BSc, MA, PGCE

Subject: Computing & Computer Science

I have taught both Primary and Secondary aged pupils as well as being Head of Computing in several schools. I’m passionate about working with young people and helping them develop their understanding of computing. In particular, I enjoy teaching programming and examining how children can solve problems using technology. I teach computing to children in a range of settings. These include sessions on physical computing devices such as Raspberry Pi, linking computing to art, music and e-safety.

I also teach at at the University of Hertfordshire, Brunel University and as an External Examiner for Roehampton University on London’s BA in Primary Education. I have prepared hundreds of trainee teachers for life in schools and delivered diverse sessions, including getting started with interactive whiteboards. I am a guest lecturer on Masters level courses and a trainer with the National Science Learning Centre at the University of York.  I also work as a consultant for the British Computer Society (BCS).

I am based in southern England and, outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my young family, cycling, running and Geocaching.

I’m delighted to be part of the Wolsey Hall Oxford team, and I am looking forward to working with you wherever in the world you may be.
