I have always had a love of learning and a passion for Science; after a successful education at Torquay Girls Grammar School, I attended Reading University where I studied Biomedical Sciences. The course gave me an excellent insight into a wide range of cutting-edge Chemical and Biological research and I graduated with a first-class Honours degree. After my undergraduate degree I went on to gain a Postgraduate Certificate of Education at Cambridge University.
Having taught all Science subjects for the last ten years and having been the head of a Chemistry department, I fully understand the demands and triumphs that education brings and I pride myself on my innovative pedagogical approaches. I am an organised, enthusiastic visionary, who always strives for innovative teaching, learning and assessment. Helping inspire students to gain an interest and fascination in science brings me great joy.
I think it is extremely important that all students feel valued, supported and confident. I like to ensure that students find me approachable, full of fun and enthusiasm. Science is a way of discovering what’s in the universe and how those things work today, how they worked in the past, and how they are likely to work in the future. Just imagine the thrill of seeing or figuring out something that no one has before!
Outside of work I love spending time with my two young children and husband. Sport and adventurous challenges play a big part in my life, with some of my biggest achievements being, The Marine Commando Challenge, Ten Tors and learning to fly a plane!
