Subject: English, English Literature

My love of Literature began with poetry as a child. During my GCSE years, I discovered William Wordsworth and Wilfred Owen and developed a fascination for Japanese poetry from the Tang dynasty. These early influences never left me. I have since written articles, given lectures and run courses on the Romantic poets in the South West, and have also run courses on Japanese Literature and World Conflict Poetry.

Having gained a First Class BA in English Literature and Creative Writing, I went on to study Creative Writing with English Literature for my Masters. I achieved a distinction, having chosen to specialise in American Literature with a particular focus on the jazz writings of Jack Kerouac. I have been fortunate to have worked as an academic writing Tutor at a university and as a teacher in the UK, China, Togo and Budapest, teaching young people from over sixty different nationalities.

I have taught Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE) for many years, and I am also a CAIE Examiner. I have worked as an advisor on the official Cambridge Assessment texts books for A Level English Language and A Level English Literature, both of which were published by HarperCollins. Additionally, I have worked extensively as an online private Tutor for various organisations and have designed multiple world Literature courses for adults, which I taught through education providers across the South West, as well as for City Lit in London.

As a keen adventurer and outdoor enthusiast, living abroad has enabled me to travel widely and hike through some stunning landscapes while nurturing my other passions of botany and observing different primate species in the wild. Committed to conservation, I have also immensely enjoyed volunteering with several wildlife rescue organisations, the highlight of which has been to spend time looking after gibbons while observing their behaviour at close hand.

I am excited to be working for Wolsey Hall and look forward to helping my students to feel confident, inspired and capable of achieving their full potential.
