Eleanor Dyde

Joint Hons History & Law, PGCE

Hello, my name is Eleanor and I’ve been a qualified teacher in the UK for over 20 years. I’ve taught many different subjects, to all ages and abilities,  as I love to share my passion for learning and understanding whatever the topic.

I’ve have had a varied career teaching in Primary, Secondary, special schools, higher education colleges, and alternative education. I am currently working as a tutor of SEND and other students on 1:1 or small group basis plus supporting those in home education with their courses. I have SEN experience in ASC, ADHD, SEMH, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia and MLD.

As well as teaching during my career I have been a Head of Religious Studies, Head of Humanities, Head of Citizenship and a SENCo, and this has helped me to develop my management skills.

I have always enjoyed History and International History and after studying it at school I just wanted to know more and so decided to combine my law studies with History when I did my degree. My degree gave me the opportunity to study from ancient civilisations through to the modern world, and I loved the variety of the different periods in History.

I have visited many places of historical significance as I love the way it brings things to life. History will always be important to know and understand, as it helps us to understand the past and how it affects us now along with vital skills related to looking at and weighing up evidence from different sources.

Alongside working as a teacher I have worked as an examiner for Pearson, AQA and OCR on a variety of subjects over the years. I have found that this has really helped me and I hope to be able to pass this information on to students to enable to them to excel.

I have taught Skills for Life, PSHE and Citizenship throughout my entire career and I have always enjoyed these courses as they allow for a more flexible approach and for people to explore more about themselves and the world around them. I am passionate about a holistic approach to education and this area is a vital part of people learning to be fully rounded and able to cope throughout their life with the many challenges and changes they will face alongside learning to work with others and develop from their own experiences.

I’m looking forward to starting our work together, and helping you to achieve all you can.
