I find Chemistry fascinating; the patterns within the periodic table and how Mendeleev dreamt this up, even predicting elements that hadn’t yet been discovered, is mind-blowing. I’m enthused by the systematic, logical nature of Chemistry and the constant evolution of our understanding. This has formed my passion for teaching, sharing that journey with students as they make the links from basic atoms up to organic synthesis pathways.
My tutoring style has been nurtured through my own experiences at school. I didn’t always find Chemistry the easiest of subjects; however, a patient, enthusiastic, and approachable Chemistry teacher changed my thought process and aided a re-think around my revision style. This helped me enormously in achieving a top grade. I enjoy using this teaching style with my students because I have seen first-hand, as a student’s confidence in their ability increases, understanding and assessment results increase exponentially.
After completing my undergraduate degree in Chemistry, I started a graduate teacher training program at a leading co-ed independent day school in Norfolk. After four years, I moved to a world-renowned boys boarding school in London. It was there I spent seven great years teaching and working alongside inspirational, forward-thinking colleagues.
I left the classroom in August 2021 to spend time with my young family. With my love of teaching in all forms, I am so pleased to be a Tutor at Wolsey Hall. Alongside my passions for Science and education, I also enjoy exercising and learning new skills – I am currently teaching myself the piano. Relaxation time also includes holidaying in the Lake District with my husband, two children and bouncy Labrador.
I look forward to meeting you, and I am excited to help you achieve your full potential.
