World Book Day Costumes

World Book Day is a registered charity on a mission to give every child and young person a book of their own. It’s also a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.

For World Book Day, Wolsey Hall Oxford got involved in dressing up as book characters!

Here is Zara and her little sister as Mary Poppins! Zara is age 11 homeschooling in Malaysia.

Here is Sarah as Little Red Riding Hood! Sarah is also age 11 and homeschooling in India.

Our French and Spanish Tutor, Caroline Thomson, got her family involved in World Book Day. Her son is SuperTed and her daughter is Bandette, a French comic book character! Well done everyone and we hope you had fun and are inspired to read more story books.

This is the 22nd year there’s been a World Book Day, and on 7th March 2019, children of all ages came together to appreciate reading. The main aim of World Book Day is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading.
