I have worked as a teacher of Psychology and Sociology since 2002. After completing my BSc, I began teaching A level Psychology at various 6th Form colleges in Surrey. During this time, I completed my PGCE Distance Learning through Greenwich University.
In 2009 my husband and I moved to Muscat in Oman. It was an exciting and culturally enriching time. While there, I worked in international schools teaching English, Humanities and PSHE and I re-trained as a Life Coach and Nutritional Therapist. We lived in the Middle East for 3 years, enjoying the sunny outdoors – camping, hiking and boat adventures!
Back in the UK in 2012, I began teaching in the Independent Sector; I worked with two schools in Surrey, teaching both A level Psychology and Sociology. I also have experience as a Private Tutor, Academic Coach and A level Examiner. Since 2015 I have been working in recruitment for tutoring and more recently childcare. I enjoy working flexibly as it allows me to spend more time with my young children.
I have a passion for teaching my subjects. They cover fascinating and engaging topics that enable us to understand the world and the people around us give us insight into what makes us function as we do. Psychology is such a valuable subject as it extends core skills in writing, scientific enquiry and mathematical analysis. I am also interested in the process of learning, understanding how to encourage and nurture ways of studying that build academic success and independence.
I live with my husband and two children in Dorking, a quaint market town in Surrey famous for its Olympic cycle route and gigantic chicken statue. Our weekends are spent enjoying the gorgeous countryside, sailing and finding adventures.
I am greatly looking forward to working with you.
