Course samples for GCSE Level courses

We provide course samples so you can explore our GCSE Level courses before enrolling your child.

A course sample gives you a clear preview of the course structure, content, and level, helping you decide whether it is right for your child.

A course sample includes:

  • An overview of learning covered across the course
  • Example lessons
  • The first assignment from the course
  • Information about learning materials and guidance

The course sample shows what the course would look like if your child were enrolled, helping you feel confident before moving on to making and enquiry or application.

Assessments & exams

Exams

This course will assess your child’s understanding across two components:

Component 1: This component covers a portfolio of work created by your child on set themes. It accounts for 50% of the overall grade. There is a mandatory 2 hour remotely invigilated Mock Exam over a range of fixed dates in the Autumn.

Component 2: This component covers a theme set by Pearson in the second year of study, beginning with prep work and ending with a 10-hour sustained focus period which is remotely invigilated. It accounts for 50% of the overall grade.

Remote invigilation

As this course is remotely invigilated, we have created a process of continual monitoring throughout the course which will involve your child recording their work sessions and taking photographs to show their progress.

72% pass rate

In 2024, our GCSE Level students achieved a pass rate of 72% at A*-C grade, with 23% achieving grades A* to A across all their courses.

Exam centres

Wolsey Hall Oxford is the exam centre for this course. This means we will need to verify that everything your child submits to the exam board for assessment is their own work. There is an additional exam entry fee payable to Wolsey Hall Oxford - details of this will be shared during enrolment.
