IGCSE homeschooling in Malaysia

Sixteen-year-old Laeticia began IGCSE homeschooling in Malaysia with Wolsey Hall Oxford because her parents were looking for an alternative to the local schooling system. She’s recently achieved excellent IGCSE results:

A* – Extended Maths
A* – Physics
A* – Chemistry
A – Additional Maths
A – English Language

My homeschool experience

“IGCSE Homeschooling in Malaysia allowed us to customise our own curriculum and timetable. Overall it was an enjoyable experience because I had the flexibility to do other things that many school children could not afford to spend their time on. Best of all, I could study at my own pace without having any peer pressure.

“One of the biggest challenges I faced was keeping myself motivated in order to achieve my goals. I also really loved homeschooling because I was able to spend quality time with my family and build a closer relationship between me and my sisters. To me that is something to treasure forever.”

Flexibility of homeschooling

“Alongside studying I was very active in the dance world. I did ballet, modern and tap dance, attending several classes a week. I also participated in competitions, workshops and performances.

“My advice to other students would be to create a timetable that you are comfortable with and update it as you go along. Make the most of the flexibility of homeschooling! When it comes to preparing for exams, do loads of past exam papers. It’s all about practise, practise, practise and then when the exams arrive you feel prepared and not so daunted.

“After my A levels I hope to go to the National University of Singapore to study engineering.”
