IGCSE Spanish

Why study Cambridge IGCSE Spanish

Hola, hablas Español?

Our Cambridge IGCSE Spanish homeschooling course is based around the language skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing,

Psychological studies have found that speaking a second language, such as Spanish, is a great asset to the cognitive process. The brains of bilingual people operate differently than those of single language speakers, and these differences offer a number of benefits including:

  • Improved listening skills since the brain has to work harder to distinguish different types of sounds
  • A stronger working memory than those speaking only one language. This helps with mental calculation, reading and other vital skills
  • The ability to switch from one task to another more quickly
  • Being better at your first language. It is said that you can never understand one language until you understand at least two.

These are all quite apart from the benefits of your child immersing themselves in another culture, and of seeing their own culture from the perspective of another.

Additional service – online tuition

We are pleased to be able to offer Wolsey Hall students the opportunity to book 1:1 tuition at IGCSE level in Spanish. Each session lasts 45 minutes.

Our courses are designed with a self-study approach, however, you may wish your child to have the opportunity to discuss a particular topic area with a Tutor and our 1:1 sessions allow them to direct their learning in this way.

Please note that this is an add-on service that incurs an additional fee.
