Overview

Our IGCSE™ Sociology homeschooling course introduces students to the study of society and how people interact within social groups and institutions.  

Through this course, students will: 

  • Explore how individuals develop identity through socialisation and culture.
  • Examine key social institutions such as the family, education and the media.
  • Investigate important social issues including inequality, crime and deviance.
  • Develop an understanding of how sociologists collect and analyse data to study society.

Additional information

Study method: A self-directed mix of online and offline learning with structured multimedia content. You will be supported throughout your studies with expert Tutor feedback as well as guidance from a dedicated Student Progress Manager

Assessment & exams

Exams

This course will assess your child’s understanding across two papers:  

Paper 1: This paper covers Research Methods, Identity and Inequality and lasts for 2 hours, accounting for 50% of the overall grade.  

Paper 2: This paper covers Family, Education and Crime and lasts for 1 hour and 45 minutes, accounting for 50% of the overall grade. 


Mock exams

All of our GCSE courses include a number of past exam papers in the final module to support students’ learning. This includes the most recent paper, which can be taken as a mock exam and submitted to the course Tutor for feedback for an additional fee.
