Badminton player – Ethan Rose

Ethan’s story

England Junior International Badminton Player Ethan Rose has found the flexibility of studying with Wolsey Hall works perfectly with his intensive training.

Ethan is the first Men’s English Singles Player to be ranked in the Top 8 in the World on the U19 BWF World Junior Rankings since ranking records began at the beginning of 2012.

“I have been studying my A level Business Studies with Wolsey Hall since 2018. Compared to being in school full time, it is much easier to study and learn this way. It allows me to train the hours required at top level in my sport.”

Sixteen year old Ethan has an impressive array of medals and titles to his name already but this success comes from a determined drive to achieve which also shows in his studies.

“I have been playing badminton since I was 4 years old. I am a nine-time National Junior Champion, European U15 Silver medallist as well as U17 6 Nations Bronze medallist. This year I won the U19 National Championships and I am now competing on the Senior World Tour. I completed my GCSEs 18 months early and I am now competing full time on the tour whilst studying my A levels.”

From first picking up a racket aged three on a Centre Parcs holiday with his parents, Ethan has come a long way. His next target is competing in the Under 17 European Championships in August.

With training six hours a day, six days a week and fitting in A level studying, Ethan is definitely one to watch!
