Homeschooling in the Philippines

Homeschooling courses for ages 4-18

Wolsey Hall Oxford is welcoming a growing number of families who are homeschooling in the Philippines. We are seeing a mix of both Filipino and expat children at all levels from elementary (Primary) through junior high school (Lower Secondary) and into senior high school courses (IGCSE and A levels).

The pandemic has had a disastrous effect on education in the Philippines and we find the families who are turning to homeschooling are looking for a consistent, challenging, and inspiring curriculum which also offers children the flexibility to learn at their own pace.

Though it may not be commonplace just yet, homeschooling is perfectly legal in the Philippines and available through the Department of Education (DepEd) Home Study Program or through independent homeschooling providers like Wolsey Hall Oxford.

Meet Vladimir

Twelve-year-old Vladimir is homeschooling in the Philippines and is studying Lower Secondary level courses.

Vladimir’s mum Elena explains “We originally decided to homeschool Vladimir due to the lack of good schools in Palawan. We chose Wolsey Hall because it offers a good quality of British education materials and support, and has been well established for years throughout the world.”
