Why study Cambridge IGCSE Physics
How does gravity work? In our Cambridge IGCSE Physics homeschooling course your child will learn the answer to this and many other questions. They will explore the basic building blocks of the universe – energy and matter. They’ll be introduced to a range of interesting phenomena and discover surprising explanations for everyday things we see and take for granted. Our carefully designed home-based experiments will help to reinforce your child’s understanding of theoretical ideas as they are guided through the key areas of Physics.

Key topics covered in the course
Cambridge IGCSE Physics will enable your child to develop a concern for accuracy and precision, objectivity, integrity, enquiry, initiative and inventiveness. Key topics in the course include:
- General physics
- Thermal physics
- Properties of waves, including light and sound
- Electricity and magnetism
- Atomic physics
Prior requirements and hours of study
- Previous study: CAIE recommends that learners starting this course should have studied a Physics curriculum such as the Cambridge Lower Secondary programme or equivalent national educational framework such as the Key Stage 3 programme of study within the National Curriculum for England. (Years 7-9). We also recommend students are studying IGCSE Maths Extended if taking this course.
- Your child should allow for up to 150 hours’ study time to complete their Cambridge IGCSE Physics homeschooling course plus additional time for completing assignments. This is an approximate figure which depends on their learning abilities and the pace at which they work.
Additional service – online tuition
We are pleased to be able to offer Wolsey Hall students the opportunity to book 1:1 tuition at IGCSE level in Physics. Each session lasts 45 minutes.
Our courses are designed with a self-study approach, however, you may wish your child to have the opportunity to discuss a particular topic area with a Tutor and our 1:1 sessions allow them to direct their learning in this way.
Please note that this is an add-on service that incurs an additional fee.
The syllabus and exam
The course will prepare your child for the following three papers of the Cambridge (CAIE) IGCSE Physics, syllabus 0625 and 0972:
Paper 4
Extended theory paper: 1 hour and 15 minutes, (50%)
Paper 6
Alternative to Practical paper which will test your child’s familiarity with practical procedures which they will learn during the course: 1 hour, (20%)

All of our IGCSE courses include a number of past exam papers in the final module. These include the most recent paper which can be taken as a mock exam and submitted to your Tutor for assessment and feedback for a modest additional fee.

Course Fees
The fee for IGCSE Physics is £655 via instalments. There is a discount of 5% for payment in full reducing the fee to £615. Our Cambridge IGCSE Maths homeschooling course will provide your child with a strong grounding in the subject and fully prepare them for the IGCSE exam. They may take it at Extended level (up to grade A* or 9), or at Core level (up to grade C or 5).

IGCSE Spanish
Our Cambridge IGCSE Spanish homeschooling course is based around the language skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing, Psychological studies have found that speaking a second language, such as Spanish, is a great asset to the cognitive process. The brains of bilingual people operate differently than those of single language speakers
Tarun has been doing Year 7 and 8 English, Maths and Science with Wolsey Hall. He is enjoying his courses and loves the flexibility the whole homeschooling program brings.
