Overview

A Level homeschooling courses

At Wolsey Hall Oxford, we offer a personalised and supportive learning approach that helps students become more independent in their studies — an important skill for university and future jobs.

A Levels are recognised as the ‘gold standard’ of British education, and we’re proud to offer a wide range of engaging and academically rigorous A Level courses. A Level qualifications are taken in two stages typically across two academic years: AS (first academic year) and A Level (second academic year), though we do offer some standalone AS Level qualifications through Edexcel. Strong A Level results can help students get into top universities in the UK and beyond, and are well respected by employers around the world.

Our online A Levels are available through the Cambridge, Edexcel and Edexcel International exam boards. Entry requirements vary by subject, but students typically need to have achieved relevant GCSE Level grades to progress onto an A Level course.

If you are planning to study at university, our University Advice Service can help them choose the right subjects and guide them through the application process.

Frequently asked questions

What equipment will I need to study A Levels with Wolsey Hall Oxford?

Our A Level courses are delivered through our online student learning platform, so you will need a computer and reliable internet access. Some materials can be downloaded for offline use. A printer and a device to scan completed work (such as a scanner or smartphone) would also be helpful.

Can students study from outside the UK?

Yes, absolutely. We have students in over 130 countries and if you have a reliable internet connection you will be able to keep up with their studies wherever you are in the world.

What is the difference between an AS and A Level course?

AS Levels are recognised qualifications on their own, and form the first half of a full A Level qualification. Depending on the universities you apply to, an AS Level can add value to your application alongside full A Levels.

To ensure their AS result remains valid as part of their overall A Level qualification, students will need to take their A Level exam within 13 months of completing the AS Level course. Not doing this may mean they need to retake the AS. You can find more information on this on our A Level Exam Information page.

What subjects can be studied at A Level?

We offer a wide selection of online A Level courses, and our Admissions team is happy to help you explore the best options. You can choose from set or flexible course bundles tailored to your interests and ambitions, only paying only for your selected course combination.

What assignments will students have to complete?

For A Level courses, assignments are designed to prepare students fully for their exams. These assignments do not count towards the exam grade but are assessed, and Tutors provide extensive feedback. Many assignments are based on previous exam papers, offering excellent practice for the types of questions in the exams.

What qualifications will students receive?

Students will receive a certificate from the examination (either Cambridge or Edexcel depending on the subject) through their exam centre. This will indicate the grade that they have obtained.

Do Wolsey Hall Oxford offer support with university applications?

Our Careers and University Advisor Service provides advice and guidance for students to help them plan their next steps, whether they want to move into higher education or employment. We offer support with both UK and international university applications, as well as career-focused consultations.

What is the process for resitting exams?

Should you wish to retake any exam because your result has fallen short of grades A* — C, we will provide full support at no extra charge for you to prepare for the next available examination.

How long do A Level courses take?

The recommended study period is 9-12 months for AS courses and 18-24 months for full A Level courses.

Can students accelerate their A Level studies?

If you are studying 3-4 subjects, we recommend 18-24 months to cover both AS and A Level content and exams. It may be possible to accelerate A Level study to 9-12 months if only studying 1-2 subjects with Wolsey Hall Oxford.

Can students extend their course if needed?

Yes, it is possible to extend our A Level courses for an additional payment.  See more about our course fees here.

What happens if we need to defer our A Level exam dates?

A student can defer their exam date within the course term for an administrative fee, if the new exam sitting date is not more than two years from the initial Access Date. Learn more about our course fees here.
