Overview

World-class GCSE Level online learning for 14 to 16-year olds

At Wolsey Hall Oxford, we provide a flexible and supportive learning approach designed to encourage independent learning — an essential skill for success in higher education and future careers. With over a century of experience of helping students around the world to achieve their qualifications, we offer a wide range of engaging and academically rigorous GCSE Level online courses.

The Cambridge IGCSE™ is the world’s most widely recognised qualification for 14 to 16 year-olds, and is trusted by universities and employers worldwide. In the UK, pupils typically study 7-10 subjects over two years, before specialising at A Level. Whilst your child can choose to study any combination of courses with us, we would strongly recommend this approach to give them a well-rounded academic foundation. For more information, see our ‘GCSE Level Package’ bundle in our course fees guide

To give your family even more flexibility, you can also choose to spread GCSE Level exams over two years, and take four to five in each year. Speak to our Admissions team today for help in creating the best plan for your child’s needs.

Frequently asked questions

What qualifications will my child receive at the end of their course?

Your child will receive a certificate from the examination board indicating the grade they have obtained in each of their GCSE Level courses.

What is the difference between GCSE, IGCSE and International GCSE?

GCSEs and IGCSEs™/International GCSEs are very similar qualifications, but there are a few key differences between them. Both qualifications are studied at the same level (UK Key Stage 4, GCSE Level) and are equally respected by universities and employers. IGCSE qualifications follow the Cambridge curriculum, whereas International GCSE qualifications follow the Pearson Edexcel curriculum. Here’s some information to help you understand them a bit better:

GCSE:

  • Taken by students in mainstream schools in the UK from Years 10-11 (ages 15-16)
  • Taken in June in the UK
  • Can only be taken inside the UK

IGCSE/International GCSE:

  • Taken by students studying outside mainstream education in the UK, or based internationally, with no age restrictions
  • Can be taken in May or November
  • Can be taken worldwide

What kind of support will my child receive during their studies?

Your child will benefit from 1:1 feedback from experienced Tutors, as well as dedicated pastoral support from your Student Progress Manager. We can provide additional wellbeing and SEND support too if your child requires this. As the parent, it is important that you are also engaged in your child’s learning and offer consistent encouragement and guidance throughout their studies.

How will I know my child is making progress?

You’ll receive regular feedback from Tutors on assignments, plus ongoing support from your Student Progress Manager to help your child stay on track.

Can I enrol at any time?

Absolutely - with no fixed terms or start dates, you can enrol whenever works best for your family.
